WOOL MARKET

NAPIER SALE OPENS FULL BENCH OF BUYERS. ANIMATED COMPETITION. The fourth wool sale of the season •pened at Napier this afternoon before a full bench of buyers representative of all countries. A total offering of 17,828 bales was being made which included 2,117 from the Poverty Bay district. In the early stages prices were on a par with the last Wellington sale. The type of wool offering was of a very ordinary character, few clips of quality being in evidence. Up to the limits, competition was keen and animated. The bidding was not of an isolated nature, as is often the case when an inferior type of wool is offered. First lambs under the brand J.H. realised 7d, and under Te Matau 6jd. A line of AAE under the brand of Midmar made 7d. Hogget wool of ordinary type made up to Sjd. Fleece wools heavy in condition were making from 3jd to 4Jd.
