TAKAPAU GOLF CLUB

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual general meeting of the Takapau Golf Club was held in the Public Library on Friday evening when Mr C. C. Callender presided over a particularly good attendance of members. The report and balance sheet for the year were read by Mr P. J. O’Dowd, honorary secretary. The report, which was of a very satisfactory nature, showed that the club had functioned well during the past year and the ballauce sheet disclosed a small credit balance on the year’s working. Hearty votes of thanks were tendered to the officers of the club, the captain, honorary secretary and greens’ committee being specially mentioned, for the good work they had done. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as under; —Patron, Mr 11. W. White; president, Mr J. Caughlcy; vice-presidents, Mrs J. Holden, Mrs J. B. A’Deane and Mr W. Cuthbertson; club captain, Mr H. H. Edwards; vicecaptain, Rev. Father Devlin; general committee, Commander L. L. A’Deane, Tollemache, Messrs F. G. Prescott, W. H. Davies. G. S. White and C. J. Smith; greens’ committee, Messrs Smith and Prescott; handicappers, Messrs G. S. White and Callender; honorary secretary. Mr P. J. O’Dowd; treasurer, Mr C. C. Callender; honorary auditor, Mr W, Cuthbertson. Mrs J. B. A’Deane, ladies’ captain, and Mrs T. G. Prescott, honorary secretary, are ex-officio members of the general committee. The constitution and rules of the club, as revised by a sub-committee set up for the purpose, were tabled and after being submitted to the general committee will be placed before a general meeting of the club for adoption. It was decided, subject to the course being ready, to have the opening day on the first Saturday in April. A number of new members were elected. Very cordial votes of thanks were proposed by the chairman to the donors of trophies and to the ladies for the extremely valuable assistance they had given during the past season. With what will probably be a record membership a very successful 1933 season is anticipated for the club, and with the suitable summer stocking of the course and favourable weather the links promise to be in better condition than ever before.
