HAUMOANA
NEWS FROM THE BEACH SUBURB After a recess of three months the Haumoana Ladies’ Guild held a meeting m the Church on Monday afternoon. Mrs Baker presided over a good attendance. Many interesting topics were discussed. It is interesting to note that the Guild has quite a big roll number now, and it would be pleasing to see a full attendance again. A dainty afternoon was dispensed, concluding a very happy meeting. The Church is indebted to Mr D. J. McLeod for his generous gift of 25 hymn books for the Church.
The Haumoana Swimming and LifeSaving Club were very fortunate in picking such an ideal night for their initial dance, which was held in the hall on Thursday evening. A large crowd attended and were unanimous in their opinion that it was the most enjoyable dance held at Haumoana for some time. The club’s credit balance will certainly benefit considerably. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Mesdames Cockerill, Winchester, McCormick and Thorburn, assisted by a band of helpers. L. Cameron’s dance orchestra supplied ex. cellent music and extras were played by Mrs Cockerill, R. Pell, J. Hollyman and Mr Englebretsen. Mr j. Calnan and Mr Cockerill made verv efficient M.C.’s.
