A POLICY FOR HASTINGS BOROUGH.

(To The Editor.) -Sir, —The ratepayers of Hastings as a whole will heartily welcome the clearcut suggestions embodied in your correspondent “Egotist’s” letter of Thursday’s issue of the “Tribune.” The ever-increasing expenditure of the Hastings borough has reached alarming proportions. The time is long overdue tor drastic measures to be put in hand to cut out the tincalled for expenditure that is increasing by leaps and bounds, while the standard of efficiency in .the upkeep of the borough does not keep pace with the large cost of maintenance. “Egotist” has made an exhaustive review of the present position of the Hastings borough in a very able manner, and his suggestions in the matter of improving the financial position and departmental economies are deserving of every consideration by the business community of Hastings and the general public. 1 feel sure that the policy outlined for Hastings by “Egotist,” if carried out in its entirety, will have a lasting and beneficial effect on the future of our town. —Yours, etc., HERETAUNGA. Hastings, 10/3/33.
