The demolition of the temporary shopping block in Memorial Square, papier, is now nearly completed. The main portion of the building has been removed, revealing the Mothers' Rest, a welcome sight after having been completely bidden for two years. There is still a section of the shopping block on the eastern side of the square to be demolished. The work is being carried out by the Public Works Department, which is disposing of the timber, sheet iron and plate glass by sale to private individuals and firms.
