REV. H. SPEIGHT
LEAVING HASTINGS IN JANUART ACCEPTS PARISH IN GISBORNE DISTRICT. The Bev. Hubert Speight has accepted the Parish of Patutahi, about 10 miles south of Gisborne, and will be leaving Hastings at the end ef January. Mr. Speight was ordained deacon ia St. Matthew’s Church by Bishop Sedgewick on July Bth, 1928, and has been assistant curate at the pariah church. He was elevated to the priesthood oa June 30th, 1929. Both Mr. and Mrs. Speight will be very much missed by a crowd of friends iu Hawke’s Bay, where they have lived for many years. Mr. Speight was previously headmaster of Eskdale, Pert Ahuriri, and Havelock North schools. Opportunity will bo given to their friends to-night, at the conclusion of the Bishop of Melanesia's meeting, m St. Matthew’s Hull, to ilx a dato for a farewell, and to decide in what form a presentation be made to them as tin expression of appreciation of thi r work for 44 years in Hastings.
