WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

RIBSINGTON BRANCH The Riuington Women’s Institute held its last meeting in Havelock North at the kind invitation of Miss Moore, whose guests they were for the afternoon. An annual outing has always been held in February but members were very pleased to forego the February outing and take advantage of this kind invitation. A certain amount of business had to be despatched, reference being made by the president to the sad less of Mrs Welch, who was always a very keen member. A vote of sympathy was passed. Resolutions for the coming Federation were discussed, and a very delight-. ful letter from Mrs Bathurst was read, in which she spoke of sending a little present to the institute, and suggesting that perhaps canvas with designs for chair seats might be suitable. Presents seemed to be the order o. the day, Mrs Hutchinson, president, being the recipient of a very handsome gift from all the Rissington members Mrs McGregor in presenting it, on behalf of the institute, said that one and all hoped she would accept it with their love and affection of her many kind services to them. .The business being over, Miss Moore then carried on the programme. Two interesting competitions were arranged, Mrs Hartree and Miss Eve Howell being the winners in the first. Each was presented with a charming basket. Mrs Eaton gained the second and was the recipient of a small darning set. Members then wandered about the garden, thoroughly appreciating the wonderful views the Havelock hills always present. Tea was served in the drawing room and as each member was leaving she was pr. sen ted with a small gift. Ono and all were grateful to Miss Moore for providing such a lovely afternoon’s entertainment.
