A SUGGESTION TO PIG AND DEER HUNTERS, Etc.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In view of the many inducements there are at present for sportsmen and others to wander off the beaten track and considering how easy it is to get lost in strange surroundings, it is a wonder to me that no one has suggested the carrying of a power' ful police whistle as a simple remedy or protection while exploring strange territory. A whistle of the above description could be heard for miles, especially in hilly country, and to carry it would cause no inconvenience. By doing so one has ah effective safeguard ready at a moment's notice.— I am, etc., BLOW HARD. Hastings, 30/10/32.
