OBITUARY
MR GEORGE THOMAS BUNKER. The many friends of Mr O. B Bunker, ot Hastings, will regret to learn of the death of his father, M. George Thomas Bunker, at Palmerston North, on Saturday. The lajte M Bunker was bom in Devon (England in 1860 and came to New Zealanabout 50 years ago, entering the nV vice of the Anchor Shipping Compan. and became a well-known figure on th< Nelson-WeNingtou coastal run. He re tired from active service about 2( years ago, and resided in Nelson unti i'ust recently, when he went to visit iis daughter at Palmerston North Owing to ill-health he underwent an * operation from which he never com- ’ pletely recovered. In hie younger days the late Mr Bunker was a keen sportsman, and most pastimes found in him au active participant, and later a keen slip|K>rt<r as well as an esteemed administrative officer. He leaves a family of ten. His wife predeceased him by some eight years Mr C. H. Bunker left. Hastings yesterday to attend th--funeral, which will take place at *■ . Palmerston North.
