BOWLING

WEEK-END PLAY HAVELOCK CLUB'S OPENING. ▲ RECORD CROWD. The Havelock Bowling and Croquet Clubs' green presented a gala appearance on Saturday afternoon, when the official opening of the season took place. Every bowling rink was in use, and very enjoyable jjames were played, though le ram near the end somewhat spoilt matters. The green was in beautiful order, and the visitors, who came from Hastings, St. Leonards, Waipawa, Bluff Hill, Napier, Omaranui, Kia Toa and the Port, were loud in their praise of its evenness. Mr G. H. T. Joll, the president of the club, in his welcoming address, expressed appreciation of the generous way their sister clubs, especially St. Leonards, had come to Havelock’s assistance last -year.
