KERERU DISTRICT HALL

FINANCIAL POSITION From Our Own Correspondent. At a largely attended meeting of residents of Kereru interested in the control and upkeep of the district hall, a balance sheet was submitted covering the past year’s working. From this it would appear there is an everrecurring difficulty in meeting current expenses and liabilities, quite apart from the important question of repairs and much desired improvements. In the course of discussion, the view was advanced that a committee of management with wider representation must have the effect of enlisting the more definite interest and support of residents, and possibly result in the business affairs of the hall being placed on a sounder footing financially and in other respects, too, particularly in regard to the question of lease. Accordingly tho meeting agreed to the formation of a new committee of Management comprised of the followtog:—Messrs F. B. Logau, A. E. Byrne, C. E. Nelson Smitji, R. P. Kay and L. R. Averill.
