Disobedience Dying.
The Viceroy, replying to a letter from Maulana Ali, a prominent Moslem leader, reiterated the Government’s intention of not releasing Gandhi till he dissociated himself from the civil disobedience movement. It is generally recognised that disobedience is dying under the firm handling of the Government. Though the Nationalist press pretend that there is still 60,000 Congressmen throughout India imprisoned, the actual figure is only 19,000 and it is rapidly falling. The majority of those released are refraining from returning to their old ways.
Five Nazis have been killed in German election affrays during the past week. A crowd of Nazis and Communists stoned Dr. Bruening’s car and smashed the windows after a meeting at Bamberg.
