NEWS FROM THE VILLAGE. A final reminder is given of the annual general meeting of the Swimming Club, which takes place in the Town Board room to-night at 8 o’clock. All swimming enthusiasts are requested to attend . The Havelock North Golf Club will also hold its annual general meeting in the Town Board Hull at 8 o’clock to-night. All members are requested to attend. To-morrow (Saturday) afternoon the Tennis Club will hold a Yankee tournament. This tournament is always very popular so all members are advised to be present. The cricket match, Married versus Single, which was postponed last Saturday, will take place to-morrow at 2 p.m. on the Domain. Those unable to play are asked to ring the secretary, ’phone ,3477. Following are the teams selected: —Married: Meads, Mintoft, A. K. Cotterill, Redpath, Scott, Roberts, S. Liley, Rogers, A. Lilcy, Waterhouse, Gloyne, Stratton, Jack. Single: Fickling, C. Liley, N. Liley, Cotterill, McCullough, Whitehead, J. Bee, F. Bee, Russell, Mintoft, Leicester, P. Huff. The annual general meeting of the Sports Club will be held in the Town Board Hall at 7.30 on Monday evening next. The usual business, annual balance-sheet and election of officers, will be transacted, and in addition a decision will be made as to whether an annual sports meeting will be held this season; the matter of evening sport,” meetings on the Domain will also be discussed. Attention is drawn to the alteration which has been made in the date of . the Unemployed concert which was fixed for Wednesday next. This eoncert has now been postponed to Friday, November 11, on account of another concert being held next week. The organiser, Mr. Mangan, has procured some excellent talent and it was only at considerable difficulty and inconvenience that he was able to postpone the performance and retain the same performers. Mr. James Thorn, of Wellington, formerly editor of the ‘‘N.Z. Worker,” now national secretary of the N.Z. Labour Partv. will deliver a public address in the Town Board Hall at 8 p.m. on Tuesday next, November 1. All interested are invited to attend. The Havelock North Bowling and Croquet .Club will bo officially opened for the season to-morrow afternoon.
