INFORMATION. WITHHELD GOVERNMENT IMPOSES FINE Calcutta, October 27. • A collective fine of £6OOO has been imposed by the Bengal Goverment on the inhabitants of the Chittagong town of Pahartali, the scene of the recent terrorist outrage, and seven surround ing villages in cqnsequence of the failure on the part of the Hindu residents to give the Government information regarding the terrorist whom they were suspected to be harbouring and assisting. Realisation of the fine is postponed until December 1 to see whether the action of prominent Hindu inhabitants in forming associations to aid the Government to track terrorists will prove effective.
