ASKING FOR MORE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The Parliamentary items claiming attention in the ‘ ‘ House ’ ’ just now have a particular interest for Hastings, especially in view of the policy of economy which has been proclaimed from the house tops. The demand on the Government coffers for cash, and still more cash .by the powers that be in Napier causes the public to wonder where the end of these demands will come. When the par simonious attitude of the Loans Board is remembered on the occasion of tho Hastings Memorial Hospital applying for a loan on gilt edged security, and the application not even considered, one must conclude that some wizard, of finance is waving a magic wand to supply the endless demands that Nanier is clamouring for, and apparently obtaining, and still asking for more.—l am, etc., OLIVER Hastings, 27/10/32.
