WAIPAWA (Own Correspondent.) Mrs W. J. Pellow and Miss E. Pellow are on a holiday visit to Mataniata. Mr J. C. Maher, of the postal staff, left by the mail train this morning on transfer to Wellington. He was farewelled by the staff of the focal office last evening. Mr Minogue, postmaster, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr Maher with a smokers’ outfit, and also wished him all success in his new sphere. Mr Maher suitably replied. CENTRAL H.B. GOLF WAIPUKURAU LADIES’ CLUB, TROPHY MATCHES. (Special Representative.) On Wednesday afternoon the members of the Waipukurau Ladies’ Golf Club played the third round for Mrs Collinson’s trophy (bogey) and the third round for Mr Johnstone’s trophy (medal), on the Maharakcke links. Following were some of the best cards handed in:— Mrs Hartland, 3 up. Miss Schroder, 4 down. Mrs Urquhart, 5 dowu. Mrs Ward, 7 down. Miss A. Rood, 7 dowu. Mrs J. E. Reid, 7 dowu. Miss Butler, 8 down. Mrs Urquhart, Mrs Ward and Miss E. Butler tied for Mrs Collinson’s trophy. Taking the last nine holes in tho fifaal match, Miss E. Butler was the winner. Mrs Urquhart was the winner of Mr Johnstone’s trophy, with a total score of 152, Mrs Ward being runner-op with a total of 153. TAKAPAU CLUB. CONSOLATION MATCH. A consolation stroke handicap match was played on ( the Takapau links on Wednesday for'a trophy presented by Mrs T. 1. Prescott. Cards returned were as under:—
In a game for the club championship and Scott trophy Mrs W. Hobson won from Mrs J. Holden by 1 up at the 19th green.
