REV. CARLISLE APPOINTED DOMINION EVANGELIST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christohuron, Oct. 14. The Baptul Conference was continued. The Rev. Carlisle expressed his in tention of conducting positive evan; lism without trespassing upon thrights of others. The evangelistic coi mittee, consisting of Mr J. R. Carej (chairman) and the Revs. L. J. Boulton Smith, E. N. G. Goring, and Messrs Ernest Ness and A. T. Kelly, will con trol this department of Union activity Acting on the recommendation of the Baptist Union the council of the Assembly decided to appoint the Rev J J. Carlisle, of Invercargill, as Dominion evangelist for twelve months. The executive committee of the Baptist Union is: The Rev. North (president!, Messrs r. W. Gaze. F. W. Hardslc.v, the Rev. Lascelles (secretary), the Revs. W. Lambert, L. J. Boulton Smith, A W. Stuart, Mess’# .1 It. Carer, F S Horner ami W. 11. Newton. The lining people's department report stated that the Avondale Baptist Sunday school at Auckland had won the shield for the highest percentage of marks in the annual Scrioture examinatioh.
