KAIWAKA CRICKET CLUB
MATCH WITH NAPIER TEAM. WIN FOR COUNTRY XI. The Kaiwaka Cricket Club opened •he season with a very enjoyable and evenly contested game against a Napier team selected by Mr W. McKinnon. The ladies of the country club provided luncheon and tea, which were greatly appreciated by the gathering. The home team won by 39 runs, the scores being, Kaiwaka 164 (L. Fletcher 71, G. Mathewson 27, J. Grant 16 and R. White 12) and 121 for seven wickets fdcc.) (Mathewson 37 not out, C. McKay 31 not out and Fletcher 15). McKinnon’s XI. 148 (M. Williams 75. Smith 49 and Bowman 10 not out) and 98 (Williams 56, Wagg 21 and Bowmap 11). The town team’s best bowlers were Smith and Cox, while for Kaiwaka Grant, Fletcher and D. McKay were most successful.
