Mutual Problems.
A conference of representatives of the Western Provinces of Canada decided on the establishment of an interprovincial conference of three, to meet monthly. Such meetings would mean that the three Governments would benefit from closer co-operation in the handling of mutual problems. Opportunity would be provided for provincial Premiers and Cabinet Ministers to meet regularly to deal with matters of public interest. The Poverty Bay Power Board decided to protest against the proposed legislation regarding sinking funds in the hands of the Public Trustee, and to see that rights accruing to it by action already taken should not now be withdrawn by Parliament. The board recently set up commissioners to handle locally investment of its trust funds.— Press Assn. Mr. G. W. Lawson, late engineer to the New Plymouth Harbour Boa»d. who we understand is to be appointed to a similar position on the Napiei Harbour Board in succession to Mr. J D. Holmes, is qpw in Napier.
