THE MAIDEN PLATE. DIVISIONS PROVIDED FOR. Unless scratchings reduce the field for the Maiden Plate, to be run at Avondale on Saturday, from 35 to 28, the event will have to be run in divisions. The club has made provision for this, and if the race is decided in divisions they will be as follows:—

The Caulfield Cup candidates Admiral Drake, Lancegay and Tal'kie competed in the Beaconsfield Handicap at Moonee Valley to-day, all disappointing. Admiral Drake was a bad last. E. Badger, engaged to ride Lance gay in the Cup, had a fall with Gracwin to-day and is not likelv to ride on Saturday.
