THE HASTINGS BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING HELD. The usual monthly meeting of the Hastings branch of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children was held on Tuesday. Present: Mrs Sunderland (chair), Mesdames M. Bell, S. Freeman, A. R. Greenwood, 0. A. Hendry, G. A. Maddison, J. B. Pickering, G. F. Roach, C. Stubbs, A. S. Tonkin, W. F. Wellwood, and the Misses Keith and S. Wellwood. Apologies were recived from Mesdames A. Bell, H. A. Fannin, E. J. Herrick, W. Keith and R. Wright. The nurses’ report for September submitted to the meeting read as follows:—New cases, town 20, country 10; visitors to office, 1,001; visits to homes, town 265, country 177; advice over telephone, 80; letters received, 3; letters written, 3; country districts visited: Havelock North 5 times, Mangateretere 3, Whakatu 2, Clive 2, Haumoana 3, Te Awanga 3, Twyford 4, Longlands 3, Fernhill 1, Paki Paki 3, Crownthorpe 1, Tunanuj 1. Mrs Sunderland and Mrs Melville Bell were appointed official delegates to the Provincial Conference to be held in Wanganui this month, and it was hoped that either Mrs Pickering or Miss Wellwood would be able to attend as the third official delegate. Miss Williams (president) was unanimously nominated for election to the council. It was decided that the small jumble sale should be held in November instead of this month. The baby-clothes cupboard is to be closed for the summer, Mrs Maddison to attend to the necessitous cases when notified by the nurses. Progress was reported re sale of tickets for Miss Ballantyne’s dance recital to be held on Friday next in aid of the funds of the Hastings branch. Arrangements were made for the work at the Show. Mrs A. Belt and Mrs J. B. Pickering were appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month. The following subscriptions were acknowledged with thanks; Mesdames R. W Goodson, J. Hunter, R. C.
