WAGE-CUT ORDER
ASSURANCE BY EMPLOYERS. Wellington, Oct. 12. During conciliation proceedings last evening an assessor representing workers in the bakery trade asked whether any assurance could be given that the proposed wage rates, if agreed to, would not be subject to a further 'general reduction by order of the Arbitration Court. In reply, Mr. T. O. Bishop, secretary of the Employers’ Federation, pointed out that the court’s.power to make another reduction would expire on December 31. “Therefore,” he said, “any further order would have to bo made
between now. and the end of the r year. I can assure you. that there is no. intention on the part of the. employers to ask for another general order thic year.”
