HASTINGS COURT
(Before Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M.) TO-DAY’S PROCEEDINGS. Bert Charles Bergerson was charged with, on September 9, at Hastings, being found on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order. Constable Sutherland said he found the defendant in the Pacific Hotel. He was prohibited on June 29. Senior-Sergeant O’Neill said that this was the defendant’s first breach. The defendant had just come out of prison and was prohibited just before being imprisoned. Defendant was fined £1 10/- with costs 12/-. UNLICENSED RADIO. Rangi Te Whero was charged with, on Septefnber 23, at Hastings, being in possession of an unlicensed wireless set. Mr E. J. W. Hallett pleaded guilty on behalf of the defendant. Senior-Sergeant O’Neill said that the defendant had been repeatedly asked to license his set, but had failed to do so. The fee was 30/- a year. Mr Hallett said that the defendant was in a position to pay and it was with no intention of evading payment that he had not taken out a license. He had made repeated efforts to see his trustees with a view to obtaining the money, but had been Unable to seo them until this week. A fine of £1 with costs 10/- was imposed. CIVIL CASES. Judgment Summons: E. Dutton was ordered to pay The Trade Auxiliary Co. (N.Z.) Ltd. £l9 5/9 forthwith, in default 19 days' imprisonment, th< warrant to be suspended on payment of 10/- weekly.
