GOVERNMENT BORROWING
EXPLOITING LOCAL MARKET SUGGESTION DISAPPROVED (By Telegraph—Special to “Tribune”) Wellington, October 11. Discussing the Prime Minister’s Budget statement that New Zealand would have to-rely more on the internal market for loan moneys, Mr A. E. Ansell (Chalmers), in the House of Representatives, said that he failed to agree that this course was right. He did not think that there was sufficient money in New Zealand to meet the Government’s requirements, and if the Government went on the local market for a loan it would be a serious competitor with industry and consumers generally for sueh capital as was available. He trusted that a move woald be made to go on the overseas market if it were found practicable, rather than relying on local resources.
