CHARGE AGAINST MINISTER
ALLEGED DISCRIMINATION INVESTIGATION REQUESTED (By Telegraph—Special to “Tribune”) Wellington, October 11. Serious charges against the Minister of Natives Affairs concerning discrimination against a Maori who had voted against him at the last election were made by Mr Walter Nash (Hutt) during the Budget debate in the House to-day. Mr Nash said he had definite and specific evidence that discrimination has been made against natives at Wairoa who had affirmed on election day that they were voting for a candidate other than the Minister; that discrimination had taken place in connection with the distribution of earthquake funds; and that the same thing had happened with the unemployment funds.
He asked that an investigation should be made into the statement he had made.
