SHEARING IN FULL SWING
FARMERS KEPT BUSY. The genial weather experienced during the past week has been responsible for shearing operations in the neighbourhood of Hastings commencing in full swing. A representative of this paper noticed several sheds busily engaged yesterday shearing dry sheep. There is not nearly the number of wethers and hoggets grazing on the Herefaunga Plains this season owing to the small return to be obtained from wool. Farmers have been compelled to graze breeding ewes, as this class of stock are showing much better returns. Sheep are coming out of the wool in excellent condition, besides yielding both a heavy and good quality clip.
