SOCCER FOOTBALL

REP. TEAM FOR POVERTY BAY. At the meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Football Association, it was decided to send a team to Gisborne to play Poverty Bay on September 17. The team will be selected next week by the selectors, Messrs J. Stickland and R. Gallacher. It was also decided at the meeting to hold the annual ball in the Napier Drill Hall on September 28. It was a great success in Hastings fast year, this promises to be one of the outstanding balls of the year. Mr Whincop, secretary of the association, has a particularly - strong committee making all arrangements for the function. The music has been placed in the hands of Mr Johnny Red and his orchestra. Soccer fans would be well advised to keep this night clear, and make the ball an outstanding success.
