.<S ORD MONTH FOR PERMITS. ACTIVITY IN TOWN AREA. A record in building in Napier was established last month, the value of permits issued by the borough authorif ties being £90,890 17/-, which is £11,185 17/- more than the previous record created in July of last year. Durinu the month which has just ended mpny owners of property, paiticularly in the town area, have commenced either tho erection of new buildings or the reconditioning of those which were damaged by the earthquake and the fire which followed it, and at the present time Hastings, Emerson and Tennyson streets are hives of industry with work going on on every hand. The value of work for which permits have been issued since the earthquake now stands at £588*219.
