COLLISION AT NAPIER CROSSING
GUARD’S VAN STRIKES CAR. TWO OCCUPANTS INJURED. A collision which resulted in slight injuries to Mr H. H. McDougall and more serious injuries to his wife, although not sufficiently extensive to necessitate her removal to hospital, occurred last night at about 7.30 o’clock, when the car which the former was driving was struck by the guard’s van of a train' which was being shunted over the railway crossing in Kennedy road in the vicinity of Miller street, Napier. The car was proceeding along Kennedy road towards the town and an engine was shunting a long rake of trucks and a guard’s van across the road into tho station yard. The ear was struck broadside on by the rear of the guard’s van and was carried a distance of about 20 yards into the station grounds. Mr McDougall suffered «nts to his hands, while Mrs McDougall was rendered unconscious for a time. The car was very badly damaged.
