CONCILIATION COUNCIL
WELLINGTON FREEZING WOBKEBS NO AGREEMENT REACHED.
Wellington, August 31. No agreement has been reached in tho Conciliation Council proceedings relative to the dispute between tho Wellington Meat Export Company and the New Zealand Freezing Works and Related Trades Industrial Union of Workers. It has been decided to notify the Clerk of Awards of the failure to agree.

AGREEMENT AFTER TWO DAYS Christchurch, August 31. After occupying the attention of the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr Ritchie, for two days, the industrial dispute between threshing mill owners and the Canterbury Agricultural 'and Pastoral Workers’ Union was settled, a complete agreement being reached. Long argument took place on wages. The employers offered 1/2 an hour and subsequently raised the offer to 1/6. The union insisted on 2/04, the rate of the old award. The employers subsequently ■offered 1/7, and when this was refused, raised the offer to 1/9. The union had already reduced its demand to 1/10. and when the offer of 1/9 was made it was accepted.
Piece-work rates were agreed upon at 17/6 per 1000 bushels for wheat and barley and 15/6 for oats, bagmen 1/extra.
The agreement will operate till June 30, 1933.
CHRISTCHURCH OFFICE WORKERS
NO AGREEMENT REACHED. Christchurch, August 31. No agreement was reached in the dispute between the Christchurch Clerks’ Cashiers’ and Office Employees’ Union (implement section) and their employers. The offer of the employers was £3 2/6 per week, and this offer was later increased to £3 10/-. The employees stated their willingness to accept £3 15/-. The rate before the general order was put into operation was £4 10/-.
