SERGIFF FOUND GUILTY
POSSESSION OF A BOMB. REMANDED FOR SENTENCE. Auckland, July 29. Charged with being in possession of gelignite and bombs with intent to committ a crime, George Scrgiff, a Russian seaman, was round guilty in the Supreme Court to-night. The Crown Prosecutor said tm>’ when the accused was arrested he had in his possession a small improvised bomb. A larger bomb was found in the room he was occupying. Tho accused had been interested in the manufacture of explosives, having studied books on the subject. The defence was that there was no evidence that the accused was going to do anything except blow up fish with the explosive. The accused was found guilty on counts of being in possession of gelignite and a bomb with intent to commit a crime. He was remanded for sentence.
