BANKRUPTCY ACT BREACHES

CHARGES AGAINST BUTCHERS COMMITTED FOR TRIAL New Plymouth, July 29. Charged with conducting their business in a manner which brought them within the provision of the Bankruptcy Act, William Edmund Reesby and Thomas Charles Reesby, formerly butchers, of New Plymouth, were committed for trial to-day by Mr R. W. Tate. The accused pleaded not guilty to' eight charges that, on various dates, they contracted debts with individuals and firms without at the time having reasonable or. probable expectation of being able to pay those as well as other debts. They were also charged with failing, during three years prior to their bankruptcy, to keep proper books. Bail of £lOO each, with a surety of £lOO, was allowed in each case.
