LATE CABLES IN BRIEF. Kauri For Ships’ Lifeboats. The British Board of Trade has approved New Zealand kauri and Australian spotted gum for parts of ships’ lifeboats. Board Takes Refuge in Court. The Chicago Board of Trade yesterday filed in the United States Circuit Court of Appeal its appeal from Government decrees suspending the board from the grain futures market for 60 days. By taking refuge In the Federal Court the board has staved off indefinitely the closing order that would have become effective on August Argentine and Britain. The Minister of Foreign Affairs at Buenos Aires yesterday stated with reference to recent reports that while the importance of exchange of views with the United States will receive due consideration it is a more opportune moment for the attention of the Argentine Government to be concentrated on commercial relations with Great Britain. A plan for preferential treatment for British goods is being considered and is responsible for the presence in Buenos Aires of Dr. Malbrani, Argentine Ambassador to London. Iraq and the League. A formal request that Iraq should be admitted to the League of Nations has been made by Nuri Pasha al Said, the Iraq Prime Minister, through the British Foreign Office, and Sir John Simon has asked the Secretary-General to place the request on the agenda of the September Assembly meeting.
