THE ALL BLACKS
FAREWELLED AT SYDNEY. BRINGING HOME THE BLEDISLOE CUP. Sydney, July 29 Taking the Bledisloe Cup, the All Blacks sailed by the Zealandia this afternoon. They had a rousing sendoff by union officials and friends. The team was farewelled earlier at .lie Hotel Wentworth, when the cup was presented to Mr Wallace on behalf of the New South Wales Rugby Union by the president, Mr H. D. Wood, who remarked that the team was one of the youngest and cleverest ever sent to Australia, equally popular on and off the field.
Mr Wallace, acknowledging the sentiment of the presentation, said ho was extremely sorry to leave Australia, the hospitality was so wonderful. Other speakers at the farewell were Sir James Parr, Mr W. Hill and Mr W. Schmitt, New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Australia.
The All Blacks had a jolly time last night at the Sydney University Sports Union’s ball, where they were the guests of honour. A dozen pretty girls gave them a surprise Dressed in black football togs, even to shorts, their jerseys buttoned at the side and ;>n the shoulders with large silver buttons, and tiny black caps perched on die side of their heads, they danced their own creation, the All Black ballet.
