CHAMPION SWIMMER
MOST SPEEDY IN WORLD. Dr. Stephan Barany, of Hungary, is undoubtedly tile speediest sprint swimmer in the world to-day. Barany is 100 and 400 metres champion of Europe, has victories over the world's record holder, Jean Taris, of France, and his time, 57 3-ssec, for 100 metres, put up in a 50 metres pool, is one second faster than Johhny Weissmuller's Olympic record, and2»certainly a better performance than Weismuller’s world’s record of 57 2-ssec, established in a 25 metres bata. Barany has swum 200 metres m 2min 16 2-ssec, and 400 metres in smin 1 2-ssec, in 50 metres pools. He is also in world class as a backstroke swimmer, being capable of Imin llsec for 100 metres at that stroke. He is considered to be prime favourite for the Olympic 100 metres event.
