Abe Mitchell, famous golfer, now 45 years of age, broke two records when ho won a £330 tournament at Long Ashton, Bristol, a few weeks ago. On the firs.t of the three days of the tourney O. J. Bailey, a Bristol professional, broke the course record with a round of 66 strokes, but he did not finish among the first 10 at the end of the second round. On the second day th© new record for the course was equalled by S. Easterbrook (Knowle), who repeated the performance in the fourth round. But on that second day Mitchell had brought the course record down to 65. Mitchell’s four rounds were 68, 71, 65 and 67, giving him an aggregate of 271, which is a record for a first-class competition over 72 holes, and represents a score of 17 under fours. F.asterbrook finished only a stroke behind him, but the third man was 11 strokes behind Fas ter brook.
