“STICK IT OUT”

MINISTEB’S ADVICE. WAY TO PBOSPERITY. •‘Stick it out, farmer, your day is eoming,” was the message given by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. A. Hamilton), in the course of an address at the Rotorua Rotary Club’s luncheon (states the “Rotorua Morning Post”). "“Where does our best hope lie in the future!” asked the Minister. "I say it will be in our courage. Wo get a medley of advice from economists, bankers, farmers, business men, and even from the man in the street; all are courageous in their opinions. All can pull us out of the pit of depression, all are trying to seek a lane to bring

back an as-you-wereness state of prosperity. “The spirit of New Zealanders is good; we have grit and courage. We do not dodge difficulties; we grapple with them with the tenacity of our pioneers who gave us our foundation. “I am not going to give advice to Rotarians,” concluded the speaker, “but just a hint or two in an unpolitical way, for I understand that the principle of Botary is that politics bo eschewed. I would say as gently as I can:— “To the business man:—‘Do no look for hefty profits now—just aim at keeping going. ’ “To the professional man:—‘Do your services feeling sure of payment of your fees some day.’ “To the farmer:—'Stick it out,

farmer, your day is coming. Hope for the best turning up.’ “To the young men and women:— ‘Do what your fathers and mothers did before you; strike out for yourselves along the hard path which led them to ultimate success.’ ”
