PING PONG

CLUB FORMED IN HASTINGS. LAST NIGHT’S TOURNEY. A most successful Ping Pong tournament was held last night in the Hastings Y.M.C.A., where an exceptionally large crowd gathered. There were twenty contestants in the tournament, and many stirring games were witnessed, especially in the semi-finals and final (A. McDonald 29 v. Mrs Vesty 31, Mrs Vesty 31 v. A. Gordon 27, Elliott 31 v. L. Mitchell 26); final, Elliott 41 v. Mrs Vesty 21. Prior to the commencement of the tournament a meeting was held, and eventually a club was formed. Mr F. Geor was appointed honorary secretary and treasurer. A small committee was set up consisting of the chairman, secretary and Messrs J. Vesty and Elliott. Owing to the large membership, it was decided to add another table. Club night was fixed for Thursday.
