HASTINGS ORPHANS CLUB
FIFTH KORERO HELD “SCOTS WHA HAE!” The Hastings Orphans’ Club held their fifth korero in the Assembly Hall last evening, the function taking the form of a Scotch night, the principal item being the piping in of “the Haggis” with full regalia and honours. The following thoroughly enjoyable programme was given:— God Save the King; selection, “The Kilties Courtship”, the Orchestra; Bagpipe solo, Piper McLeish; song, “Star o’ Robbie Burns”, Orphan Thos. Johnston; recitation, Orphan A. Robertson; sword dance, Master Christie (Napier): selection, “Our Miss Gibbs” the orchestra; talk, “Scots and Scotch”, Orphan C. Duff; piping the haggis, Pipers McLeish and Lawson (Napier), guardian of the haggis, Ex-Chieftian Lochead, bearer of the haggis, Highland T. B. McQuire; address to the haggis, Chieftain Jas Gordon; trumpet solo, “A Perfect Day”, Orphan F. C. Wilkinson; selection, “From a Russian Village”, the orchestra: clog dance, “Dutch”. Martin Christie (Napier); bagpipe solo, Piper Lawson (Napier); humorous stories, Orphan Mclsaacs; violin solo. Orphan A. Currie: song, “Battle of Stirling”, Orphan Thos. Johnston; “Auld Lang Syne”, ___________
