That some regulations were required to cover tho purchases of articles by gold buyers was the opinion expressed in the Children’s Court this morning at Christchurch. It was also contended that there should be some timelimit during which buyers should have to retain jewellery before melting, as on several occasions stolen articles had disappeared into the crucibles. The case before the Court concerned a boy who was found guilty of stealing jewellery valued nt £5, which he sold to a gold buyer for £2 15/-. The Magistrate, Mr Young, said that representations should be made by the police to head- . quarters on the subject.
