METHVEN MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association, Ashburton, July 9. The Methven Trotting club’s special meeting is being held at the Ashburton course to-day in dull, showery weather. The attendance is good. Results:— Trial Handicap.—6 Royal Wrack 1, 2 Dark Girl and Coral Prince (deadheat) 2. Won by a head; a neck bettween second and third. Time, 3.30 2-5. Royal Wrack and his driver, R. McKewen, were disqualified in the first race for using an ear twitch. Doll Dance (third favourite) was placed third. Lyndhurst Handicap: 3 Amonos 1. 1 Raeklaim 2,2 Lee Boy 3. Won by a neck, six lengths; between second and third. Time, 3.36 J. The crowd demonstrated against the first and second horses, which broke and galloped past the post. President’s Handicap.—3 Millie de Oro 1, 4 Mountain Oro 2, 5 Holly Bank 3. Scratched: Todd Lonzia. Won by thro lengths two lengths between second and third. Timo, 4.36 4-5.
