A Consistent Batsman.

A very useful i_aa for Derbyshire in county cricket is Henry Storer, now 34 years of age, whose 170 against Middlesex, a few days ago, followed immediately a score of 84 against Leicestershire. As it appeared in the South Island papers, the cable about the Leicestershire v. Derbyshire match credited Storer with taking six wickets for 40 runs against his own team, but the North Island papers got the “correct card,” showing that Storer scored 84 and G. Geary got six of the Derbyshire wickets for 40 runs; a few words had been omitted in the distribution of the cable to the South Island papers. Storer is, though, a useful change bowler for Derbyshire, slow-medium right-hand, as well as the county’s most consistent batsman. He is a nephew of William Storer, once famous as wicketkeepei- for England. Henry Storer, besides being a professional cricketer, has won fame as a half-back for England in professional Association football. He is now manager of the Coventry City Football Club.

S. J. McCabe, the young Australian Eleven player, who is a member of Arthur Hailey’s touring cricket team in Canada, hit so hard in his innings against the Cowichan Club at Vancouver that he broke a woman’s leg. The woman was a player’s wife who tried to save her child from being hit by the ball.
