BASKETBALL CLUB’S DANCE. LAST NIGHT S SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The Town Board Hall presented a very gay and lively scene last night on the occasion of the Basketball Club’s dance. The attendance was the largest yet witnessed in the new hall, the floor being filled to capacity, and the success of the dance far exceeded the most optimistic expectations of members of the club. The floor was m good condition, which, with the excellent music supplied by Les. Henry’s orchestra, added much to the evening’s success. Messrs A. Honeybun, A. Treneman, and E. Wall capably carried out the duties of Al.C.’s. The supper arrangements, which were splendid, were m the hands of a very efficient ladies’ committee of the club. Extras were played by Mrs E. Wall and Mr P. Graham, and the Monte Carlo dance was won by Air A. Taylor and Aliss Al. Hawthorne. Before the function concluded Air E. Wall, on behalf of the club, thanked those present for so admirably supporting the club and toi helping to make the evening such a grand success. Those present included: Airs E. The Havelock Fire Brigade held their weekly euchre tournament last evening in the Fire Station, where a large number of enthusiasts assembled to spend three very pleasant hours. The room was made quite homely by a large fire. The winners were Miss Aliller and Airs Bretherton (playing as gentleman). As these card evenings are one of the brigade’s few means of raising funds to maintain a necessary public utility, all card enthusiasts should lend their support. A final reminder is given of the concert to be held in the Village Hall to-night (Wednesday) to raise additional funds for the boys’ camp. Well qualified artists have been engaged and a really first-class performance is assured.
