ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

By Telegraph—Press Association The body of Frederick John Thompson, of 1 Ayr street, Parnell, an indent agent, aged 50, was found by the driver of the Auckland-Papakura train a few yards outside Newmarket tunnel at 11 o’clock last night. It is surmised that he was run over by the train to Henderson an hour earlier.

The death occurred last night as the result of a car accident of Frederick Percy Hannah ,aged 50, restaurant keeper, of Levin. On Sunday the deceased was driving a car in Gladstone road when the wheels went into a hole and the outer edge of the road broke away, capsizing the car over a 60ft. bank. It rolled over three times in the descent. The other occupants, Mrs Hannah, her two daughters and a son, were thrown out and escaped serious injury The father’s ribs were broken and his chest crushed, death following in hospital.

Michael Hays, aged about 63, a retired petty officer in the navy, was found dead in his cottage at Kaitaia, North Auckland, where he was a wellknown figure. His throat was cut, and it is believed to have been self inflicted. The cottage door was securely locked. Hayes was of independent means. A number of medals, including the D.C.M., were found in the house. George Revell, aged 54, was killed instantly while timber felling at Karapoti, Upper Hutt yesterday afternoon. Ho was employed by Campbell Bros., sawmillers, and was married, with a grown-up family.
