STOLEN HANDBAG FOUND

DOG’S FIND IN CREEK. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, June 15. A youth who had two dogs out for a run in the Auckland Domain was surprised when one, a sixmontiis old terrier, darted into a shallow creek and returned with a woman’s handbag. This was found to contain £3, also two bank-books with credits of hundreds of pounds. The police have ascertained that the bag was one stolen from an apartment house in the city on Saturday night. There was then £5 in it, but the thief apparently missed the £3, which was in a separate compartment. The dog was accustomed to receiving sweets from a purse, and to this is attributed its finding of the stolen article.
