A London cable reports the death of Lord Wenlock, who was Governor of Western Australia in 1901-02.

A Timaru telegram reports the death of Mr. James Gibson Gow, an ex-school inspector and a member of the Canterbury Education Board, aged 76 years.

Miss Olive Dixon, one time a pupil of the Napier Girls High School, has accepted a temporary position on the school staff as drill instructress.

Mr T. H. Lowry, of “Okawa,” Hawke’s Bay, returned to Auckland on Monday last from a five weeks’ visit to Vancouver, going on by the same steamer to Sydney to spend a week or two there.

The death oceurrd on Monday at his residence Orakei road Rcmuera, of the Rev. J. H. Hawkes, an early headmuster of the Whangarci High School, and for many years vicar at Kamo. He was 89 years of age.

The death took place early Friday morning of Mrs Leach, widow of the late Mr A. Leach, of Pcllits Valley. Deceased, who had spent most of her lile in the Onga Onga district, was of u gentle, retiring disposition and was much respected. Sho is survived by two sons and one daughter to whom is extended much sympathy. The funeral, which was conducted by Rev. Dyson, took place at the Ongaonga cemetery ou Saturday and was largely attended.

A presentation of a handsome travelling rug was made to R. N. Williams, by the Technical College Old Boys Football Club, a member of the chib who has been selected a member of the All Blacks team to tour Australia. In making the presentation on behalf of the club reference was made to the fact that Mr Williams was the first oM boy of the Napier Technical College, to be chosen for Dominion honours, and in congratulating him upon his selection, the spokesman said Mr Williams was not only a sterling player, but his conduct both on and off the field was that of a really good sport, and he was one of the most popular members of the club. Mr Williams suitably replied thanking the members of the club for their handsome gift, and their good wishes.
