NEW FUEL MIXTURE
EXPERIMENTS ON LINER. London, June 12. A well kept secret was revealed after the departure of the Cunard liner Scythia from Liverpool for America. Some of her boilers are being fired with a specially prepared mixture of 60 per cent oil and 40 per cent, pulverised bituminous coal made by a secret process.
It is hoped that if tho experiments are successful they will result in big savings in tho line’s huge oil bill and also have important effects on the British coalfields as the navy and the whole mercantile fleet are expected to adopt it in order to reduce fuel costs.
