AU REVOIR!

N.Z. OLYMPIC TEAM SAILS. A CIVIC FAREWELL. .. By Telegraph—Press Association Wellington, June 14. The last of a round of farewells tens dered to tho New Zealand representatives at the Olympic Games took place when they were given an enthusiastic send-off prior to embarking on th* Monowai this afternoon. A civic farewell was extended at the Town Hail by the Mayor. The Hon. R. Masters, who apologised for the absence of the Prime Minister, represented the Government. In tho course of his speech Mr. Masters mentioned that for the first time New Zealand would have an official in Mr. Leslie, who is going as starter, and he included Mr. Leslie in his congratulations. Mr. Masters mentioned that besides the Olympic team being sent abroad New Zealand had a golf team in Australia at the present time and it would be followed by Rugby and hockey teams, making about 80 New Zealanders abroad.

There had been no complaint about the cost, said Mr. Masters, but another team was going to Ottawa and there had been protests because it was proposed to send three in it. (Laughter.) He hoped that the Ottawa team would be as successful as it was hoped the Olympic team would be.

In the course of his reply Mr. Rundle, manager, remarked that other countries always looked to British teams to set the standard of sport»manship, and he could safely say that the New Zealand team would not bo found wanting. The chairman of tho New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association received a letter from the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, wishing the team a pleasant voyage and the best of luck and intimating that he would take great personal interest in the reports in connection with the Games.
