CHILD BURNED

NIGHTDRESS CATCHES FIRE. MISHAP AT OPOTIKI. Opotiki, June 13. Laurel Kelly, aged four, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Kelly, was dressing before an open fire when the draught down thechimney caused the flames to leap out and set fire to the child's nightdress. Her sister erdeavoured to beat the flames out, but by this time the nightdress was practically burnt off the girl’s back. The terrified child rushed to the door, where her mother pulled off the burning clothing. The child, who was badly burned, was immediately taken to the Public Hospital. Mrs. Kelly also sustained painful burns on the hands.
