H.B. HOSPITAL BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Hawke » Hay Hospital Board was held yesterday afternoon when Mr C. O. Morse presided over an attendance of Messrs A E. Bedford, C. Lassen, C. IL Williams, C. Duff, S. J. McKee, H. V. Hoadley, N. I’. Eriksen and Dr H. M. Wilson Leave of absence was granted Mi H Hill. Monthly vouchers totalling £5173 Is -Id were passed for payment, and intermediate payments amounting to £3594 8s 8d were confirmed. The monthly balance statement, •showing a debit balance of £12,877 9s as at May 31 was approved. The work of the various institutions was reported upon as follows bi the board’s officers:— Napier Hospital. — Number of patients in hospital at last return, 40 males, 27 females, total 67; admitted during the month, 64 males, 76 females, total 140; discharged, 58 males, 59 females, total, 117; died, two males, three females, total five; remaining in hospital at date, 44 males, 41 females, total 85. Opeartious: 22 major, 53 minor, total 75 Outpatients’ department: Number treated 170, visits 377, new applications 102. Messeuse: Number of outpatients 13, number of inpatients 15, massage treatments 206, electrical treatments 154.

Hastings Hospital. — Numbei of patients at last return, 11 males, 13 females, total 24; admitted, 26 males, 19 females, total 45; discharged, 24 males, 18 females, total 42; died, four males; remaining in hospital at date, 9 males, 14 females, total 23. Operations performed; 16 majoi, 7 minor, total 23. assage department: Inpatients treated outpatients 5, massage treatments 67, electrical treatments 52 Outpatients’ department: Numbei treated during the month 47, visits 158 District Nurses.—Napier: Visits 126, fees earned £8 13s, fees collected £2 10s. Napier maternity nurse: Visits 60, fees earned £7 5s 6d, fees collected nil. Hastings Visits 418, fees earned £4l 4s 6d, fees collected £9 6s. District nurse for natives: Number of patients 63, visits 112, pas visited 12, schools visited 6
